Water has moved to the centre of ASEAN’s infrastructure agenda. Cities are growing faster than the networks built to serve them, floods are arriving with greater force, coastlines are retreating and ageing assets are reaching the limits of what they can carry. Around 110 million people across the region still live without safe drinking water, and wastewater, drainage and supply capacity remain unevenly distributed across member states. At the same time, rising electricity demand is putting new weight on dams, hydropower and pumped storage, tying the region’s water future directly to its energy future.
The response is already taking shape. Governments are building national water security agendas, utilities are modernising ageing systems, and developers and financiers are looking for the projects, structures and partnerships that will move the region’s pipeline from plan to construction. What has been missing is a single platform where these conversations happen together rather than in isolation.
HydroShield ASEAN takes place on 28 and 29 October 2026 at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta as the region’s only integrated conference covering the full water infrastructure landscape, from stormwater management and coastal protection to desalination, wastewater, dams and hydropower.
The 2026 edition will bring together key stakeholders across government, engineering, utilities, and the private sector who are driving integrated stormwater management and coastal protection systems. As coastal cities face intensifying stormwater volumes, inadequate urban drainage systems, land subsidence and rising sea levels, the event serves as a key meeting point for those influencing the region's infrastructure future.
