Communication and media shape how people learn, vote, work, shop, build communities and make sense of the world. The International Conference on Communication and Media Studies brings together researchers, educators, journalists and communication professionals to share evidence on how these processes are changing and what they mean for society. Held at Saïd Business School in Oxford on 14–16 May 2027, it is a media studies conference organised around double-blind peer review and open academic discussion.
The scope is deliberately broad. As a communication studies conference, it welcomes research on interpersonal, organisational, intercultural, political, health and strategic communication. As a media conference, it covers journalism and news, film and television, advertising and public relations, digital platforms and the growing role of artificial intelligence in how content is made, ranked and trusted. For scholars used to a single-discipline communication conference, it is a chance to meet colleagues from journalism, cultural studies, marketing and computational social science who study the same questions from different angles.
Participants can present orally, with a poster or live online, or attend as listeners without presenting. Accepted and registered abstracts appear in the ISBN Abstract Book, and eligible full papers can be published in the conference proceedings. Whether you study newsrooms, audiences, platforms or policy, this media and communication conference gives your work an international audience.
