Future-Proofing Through Integrated Stormwater Solutions
The 3rd MENA Stormwater Conference returns on 3-4 June 2026 as the UAE’s leading platform dedicated to advancing stormwater management, climate resilience, and sustainable urban infrastructure. Building on two successful editions, the conference has evolved into the region’s most focused gathering of regulators, municipalities, master developers, consultants, contractors, and technology providers shaping the future of integrated drainage systems.
Hosted in Abu Dhabi, a city globally recognized for its commitment to sustainable planning and climate-adaptive infrastructure, the conference arrives at a critical time. Rapid urbanization, coastal development, and increasingly intense rainfall events are placing unprecedented pressure on existing drainage networks across the UAE and wider MENA region. The need for resilient, data-driven, and future-ready stormwater systems has never been more urgent.
Under the theme “Future-Proofing Through Integrated Stormwater Solutions,” the 2026 edition will spotlight how cities can transition from reactive flood management to predictive, intelligent, and sustainable stormwater strategies. The program will explore the integration of digital technologies such as IoT-enabled sensors, AI-driven monitoring, predictive analytics, and digital twins that simulate drainage performance and enhance real-time response.
A strong regulatory and policy component will examine evolving municipal codes, permitting frameworks, and climate resilience standards, particularly within Abu Dhabi’s expanding mega-projects and high-density developments. Discussions will address how stormwater planning can be embedded directly into urban masterplans, aligning drainage design with long-term sustainability objectives.
Sustainability remains central to the agenda, with in-depth sessions on Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Low Impact Development (LID) models adapted specifically for arid and desert climates. Delegates will gain insights into green infrastructure solutions such as permeable landscapes, bioswales, groundwater recharge systems, and stormwater capture technologies that convert flood risk into resource opportunity.
The conference will also highlight innovations in modular and precast drainage systems, rapid deployment solutions for expanding urban corridors, advanced utility mapping, hydrological modeling, GIS-based resilience planning, and automated inspection technologies for aging networks.
Beyond technical knowledge exchange, the 3rd MENA Stormwater Conference serves as a strategic networking hub. Exhibitors and solution providers will connect directly with decision-makers from leading Abu Dhabi authorities, developers, and infrastructure stakeholders. The event creates a collaborative environment to build public-private partnerships, unlock project pipelines, and accelerate resilient stormwater investment across the region.
As climate variability intensifies and urban expansion continues, the 3rd MENA Stormwater Conference stands as the region’s authoritative forum for building smarter, safer, and future-ready cities.
