Nigerian Navy 70th Anniversary and 6th Sea Power for Africa Symposium
Leveraging Technology for Enhanced Maritime Security in Africa
Established in 2005 by the naval leadership of the African continent, the 6th Sea Power for Africa Symposium serves as Africa’s foremost platform where navies come together to strengthen cooperation, enhance operational coordination, advance maritime security, and address emerging challenges across Africa’s seas.
In 2026, the Nigerian Navy will host this important continental gathering as part of its 70th Anniversary, with the 6th edition of SPAS taking place 1- 4 June 2026 at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos, Nigeria.
Recognised as the largest gathering of African naval forces, SPAS brings together Chiefs of Navy from across the continent, alongside participation from global naval forces and international maritime security partners, making it the only platform in Africa where this level of unified naval leadership convenes in one place.
SPAS 2026 will focus on actionable outcomes, shared intelligence and sustainable partnerships, reinforcing the importance of collective efforts to secure Africa’s seas and unlock the full potential of the continent’s oceanic resources.
