According to Mordor Intelligence: “The Indonesia Cybersecurity Market size is estimated at USD 1.43 billion in 2024, and is expected to reach USD 4.21 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 24.19% during the forecast period (2024-2029).

The National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) reported that Indonesia faced approximately 2,200 anomalous cyberattacks every minute in 2023 according to local reports. Indonesia has faced the highest number of cyberattacks in the Southeast Asian region over the last six months, with an average of 3,300 cyberattacks per week. Analysts say Indonesia's growing economy and low level of spending on cybersecurity make it a prime target for hackers.

New strategic initiatives will equip Indonesia’s public sector and up to 70, 000 small businesses with advanced AI skills and tools for supercharging cybersecurity. National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Indonesia’s primary cyber defense and cyber security government agency as well as nonprofits and social enterprises to create more resilient digital eco systems in Indonesia.

Indonesia is one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia, with expanding IT infrastructure investment and rising smartphone and internet adoption.

Indonesia has enacted Presidential Regulation No. 47 of 2023 on the National Cybersecurity Strategy and Cyber Crisis Management ("PR 47/2023") since 20 July 2023. This regulation aims to stipulate the protection of the country's digital landscape against threats and cyber-attacks, as well as the preparation against, and recovery from cyber crises.

The new rules developed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) are Indonesia’s first dedicated cybersecurity rules specifically for the financial sector.
