This is driven by a strong reliance on electric arc furnace (EAF) technology—now used in 70% of regional production—and robust recycling practices that recover over 80 million metric tons of scrap steel annually.

Looking ahead, the focus is on optimizing processes, enhancing resource efficiency, and staying competitive in a shifting global market. Yet, key challenges remain—particularly in modernizing energy infrastructure and aligning cross-border policies.
