OVERVIEW

1. The Philippines’ Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP) has set a clear goal of at least 35% RE share in the power generation mix by 2030 and aspires to increase it to at least 50% by 2040.

2. Solar will account for the largest share of new clean generation projects, with 27GW of capacity required, including both huge utility-scale projects and rooftop solar projects. 

 

3. The Department of Energy (DOE) recognized the need to utilize energy storage systems (ESS).
