The Global Press Peace Summit 2026 (officially titled "The Nairobi International Summit on Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts: Protecting Journalists and Strengthening Humanitarian Support Systems") is a high-level international convening dedicated to advancing peaceful conflict resolution while strengthening global mechanisms for the protection of journalists and humanitarian actors operating in high-risk environments. Scheduled to take place in September 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi, Kenya, the three-day summit will bring together journalists, media organizations, governments, diplomatic missions, humanitarian agencies, policymakers, technology and communications companies, security experts, civil society organizations, and peace advocates from around the world.
Under the theme "Silencing the Guns, Amplifying the Truth: Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts in the Face of Threats to Journalists and Humanitarians," the summit seeks to address the growing threats faced by media professionals and humanitarian workers in conflict zones. Through evidence-based dialogue, safety training, policy discussions, survivor testimonies, technology exhibitions, and international cooperation, participants will develop practical solutions to enhance journalist safety, strengthen humanitarian support systems, combat impunity, and promote accountability under international law.
The summit will culminate in the adoption of the Nairobi Declaration on Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts, a global advocacy framework intended for submission to the United Nations, calling for stronger international legal protections for journalists and humanitarian personnel. Key outputs will also include a Baseline Survey Report on threats facing journalists and a Compilation of Proceedings documenting recommendations and best practices emerging from the summit discussions.
Organized by Infonile Communications Ltd in partnership with Ecopark Global Initiative, the Global Press Peace Summit 2026 aims to create a lasting international platform that safeguards truth, protects those who report and respond in times of crisis, and reinforces the role of free and independent journalism in promoting peace, accountability, and human dignity.
